Garo Hamamcıoğlu — Biography
Karabet "Garo" Hamamcıoğlu was born on 24 April 1945 in Istanbul. An ethnic Armenian footballer, he spent much of his playing career with Sarıyer before later moving into sports administration.
He went on to serve for many years as chairman of Taksim Spor Kulübü, a club long associated with Istanbul's Armenian community. A leadership contest unfolded at the club in early 2026, and by April of that year the chairmanship had passed to Alen Bağ, with Hamamcıoğlu remaining a respected former president of the club.
