Furkan Aldemir — Biography
Born on 9 August 1991 in İzmir, Furkan Aldemir is a 2.08m (6 ft 10 in) Turkish forward-center who spent more than a decade competing at the top level of Turkish and European basketball. He turned professional with Pınar Karşıyaka in 2007 before moving to Galatasaray in 2011, where he won a Turkish league title in 2013.
Selected 53rd overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2012 NBA draft and later traded to the Houston Rockets, Aldemir represented the Turkish national team at the 2014 FIBA World Cup before signing with the Philadelphia 76ers that same year. After his NBA stint he returned to Turkey and continued his career with EuroLeague club Darüşşafaka. Now retired from playing, he remains a respected voice in Turkish basketball, offering praise for rising star Alperen Şengün in a 2025 interview.
