Fuat Saka — Biography

Fuat Saka (born 1952) is a Turkish singer, songwriter, composer and arranger who plays guitar and, more accurately, a range of instruments; sources give only the year of birth, with no day recorded. His birthplace is disputed: Wikidata, DBpedia and the German and French Wikipedias give Trabzon, while the Turkish article says Kasımpaşa in Istanbul. The weight of sources favours Trabzon. He was educated at Istanbul High School.

His music joins Black Sea and Laz tradition to Western forms — German sources call him a Laz-Turkish artist, Turkish ones speak of an original Anatolian folk-rock. He has also written for the screen: IMDb lists composer and music-department credits including Where's Firuze? (2004), Americans at the Black Sea (2007) and 7 Husbands for Hurmuz (2009).

In 2023 he set the centenary anthem of the Turkish Republic with the poet Haydar Ergülen. His large-scale recent work, billed as the world's first migration symphony, "Göç Senfonisi: Karanlık Sular", was performed in Germany in November 2025 and in Bodrum and Datça in July 2026.
