Freddy Şahin-Scholl — Biography
Freddy Şahin-Scholl is a German singer and composer known for a voice that can sing both baritone and soprano. Born Freddy Scholl and also known by the stage name Galileo, he won the fourth season of RTL's talent contest Das Supertalent in 2010. Besides German he holds Turkish and United States citizenship, and he lives and works in Karlsruhe.
He grew up in Wüstenrot, where his musical talent was recognised. Music was not his only job: for a time he worked as an anaesthesia assistant. In 1980 he won the Baden-Württemberg award in the cabaret category. At forty, despite never having had voice training, he discovered that he could change his voice quickly from baritone to soprano.
The best-known moment of his career is winning Das Supertalent on 19 December 2010 and receiving the 100,000 euro prize. Around the same time he was also among those considered to represent Austria in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.
