Filiz Aker — Biography

Filiz Aker was born Fatoş Bayer on 5 August 1963 in İstanbul, later working under the name Filiz Aker. After a period working as a model, she turned to acting in 1994, appearing in films such as Bir Sonbahar Hikayesi, İnsan Avcıları, Alman Avrat 40 Bin Mark, Sürgün, Kurtlar Geceyi Sever and Vahşi ve Güzel.

On 27 August 2017 she shot and killed television presenter Vatan Şaşmaz in a hotel room before taking her own life. In the aftermath it emerged that she had been born Fatoş Bayer and had changed her name years earlier, and statements from her relatives kept the case in the news for a long time.
