Fevzi Zemzem — Biography

Born on 4 July 1941 in İskenderun, Fevzi Zemzem was a Turkish footballer and later coach nicknamed "Buldozer Fevzi" (Bulldozer Fevzi) for his physical strength and combative style on the pitch. As a forward for Göztepe, he became one of the club's most fondly remembered players, forming part of the squad — alongside teammates such as Nevzat Güzelırmak and Ali Artuner — that made Göztepe one of the first Anatolian sides to rival Istanbul's traditional "big three" clubs. He finished as the Süper Lig's top scorer in the 1967–68 season.

After his playing career, Zemzem moved into coaching and led several Süper Lig and 1. Lig clubs. While in charge of Orduspor, he guided the team to a third-place league finish, securing the club's first-ever European cup qualification, and in the 1984–85 season he steered Diyarbakırspor to promotion into the 1. Lig.

Fevzi Zemzem died on 21 March 2022. He is still remembered, particularly by Göztepe supporters, as one of the legendary figures in the club's history.
