Fatih Sonkaya — Biography
Fatih Sonkaya (born 1 July 1981 in Oltu, Erzurum) is a Turkish retired footballer who played as a right back. Having spent many years in the Netherlands, he also held Dutch nationality.
Over his career he played for clubs such as Roda JC, VVV-Venlo, Porto — which he joined in 2005 — Beşiktaş, Kayseri Erciyesspor and Académica, before finishing his playing days with Khazar Lankaran in Azerbaijan, retiring in 2016.
With Turkey he took part in the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup, making two appearances during the tournament. In 2026 he made headlines by joining the Dutch army.
