Faruk Nafız Özak — Biography
Faruk Nafız Özak (born 19 April 1946 in Trabzon) is a Turkish civil engineer, former footballer and politician who graduated from the civil engineering department of Karadeniz Technical University. Before entering politics he played for Trabzonspor, was named the club's Sportsman of the Year, and later served as the club's 11th president.
Representing Trabzon for the AK Party in parliament from 2002 to 2015, Özak served under Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as Minister of Public Works and Housing from 2005 to 2009, and subsequently as Minister of State for Youth and Sports between 2009 and 2011.
After his political career, Özak remained active in business and civic life, including board positions and involvement in associations dedicated to the development of his home region of Trabzon.
