Faruk Bayar — Biography

Faruk Bayar is a retired Turkish international footballer who moved between Süper Lig and First League clubs in the 2000s, able to play at left back, left midfield and defensive midfield. Standing 178 cm, he wore the shirt of both the Turkey under-21 side and the senior national team, and carried his career through clubs in several Anatolian cities.

He began in the Eskişehirspor youth system, signed a professional contract and joined the first team in 1999, and stayed until 2002. He moved to İstanbulspor in 2002 and to Gaziantepspor in 2005. After playing for Kasımpaşa he went to Sivasspor, which he left when his contract was ended by mutual consent. In the 2010–11 mid-season transfer window he joined First League side Mersin İdman Yurdu, who finished the season as champions and were promoted to the Süper Lig.

When his contract at Mersin was not extended he spent half a season without a club, then signed for TKİ Tavşanlı Linyitspor in early 2012. He later also played for Orduspor. He was called up to national teams four times in all, winning one cap for the under-21s and one for the senior side.
