Eren Şen — Biography

Eren Şen was born on 28 September 1984 in Hamburg, Germany, and built a career that reflected his dual German-Turkish background. He came through the youth ranks at FSV Harburg before moving on to FC St. Pauli and Hamburger SV, making his professional debut for Hamburger SV in 2003; he also represented Germany at under-19 level.

A move to Switzerland's FC Thun brought European football, with appearances in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup, before he returned to his family's homeland in 2006 to join Turkish side Konyaspor, where he stayed until 2009. His following spell at Diyarbakırspor was cut short to just seven appearances by a lingering injury and the club's financial difficulties, sending him back to Germany for treatment. After training with Hamburger SV's reserve side to regain fitness, he signed with Regionalliga Nord club 1. FC Magdeburg, though the contract, originally set to run through 2011, was mutually terminated that December.
