Erdem Şen — Biography

Erdem Şen was born on 5 January 1989 in Brussels to a Turkish immigrant family and started out in local amateur football there before signing his first professional contract with Switzerland's third-tier Kreuzlingen in the 2008-09 season. The 1.80 m midfielder moved two seasons later to Belgium's Charleroi-Marchienne in the lower divisions.

He arrived in Turkey partway through the 2010-11 season on a transfer to Çaykur Rizespor, but with little playing time there he terminated his contract and joined Giresunspor in January 2012. A free transfer took him to Samsunspor at the start of 2012-13, where over four seasons he made 55 league and one cup appearance before moving on to Gaziantepspor; in January 2014 he was also called up for a single match with a Turkish First League representative selection assembled by national-team scouts. He signed for Portugal's Marítimo in August 2016, joined Yeni Malatyaspor in 2018, before returning once more to Portugal, this time with Chaves, in January 2019.

Having played across Belgian, Swiss, Turkish and Portuguese football, and described in different sources as either Belgian or Belgian-Turkish, he spent most of his years in Turkey with Süper Lig and second-tier clubs.
