Erdal Çelik — Biography

Erdal Çelik is a Turkish-German former footballer, born in Gaziantep, who moved to Germany as a child. A centre-back, he spent most of his career in German football and also played for Bucaspor in Turkey. After retiring he worked as a coach and club official.

After the family settled in Germany he began playing in the youth system of the regional amateur side TuS Schmidt. His performances drew the attention of higher-level clubs and he moved to the Bayer 04 Leverkusen academy, where he stayed until 2007. He then joined Alemannia Aachen's reserve side, left after half a season and spent the rest of the campaign without a club. The next season he returned to Leverkusen and was placed in the Bayer Leverkusen II squad; he made his first official appearance there on 20 December 2008 against SC Verl in the Regionalliga West. Over 2.5 seasons he mostly came on as a substitute, averaging about 20 appearances a season.

In the winter transfer window of 2010-11 he left Bayer Leverkusen II for the 3. Liga club Rot Weiss Ahlen and played 14 matches there. At the start of 2011-12 he transferred to the 1. Lig side Bucaspor. His career also included Sumqayit in Azerbaijan and Hamburger SV's reserve side.
