Ercüment Sunter — Biography

Ercüment Sunter is a basketball coach who has worked in the Turkish Basketball League for more than twenty years and whose name is most closely tied to Türk Telekom. Born in Ankara, he was a national-team player before moving into coaching. He coached both the senior national team and the under-23 side, and led the national team at the 1997 European Championship in Spain.

At club level he has coached Beslen, PTT, Ülkerspor and Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyespor. His most lasting relationship is with Türk Telekom, the club once known as PTT: at the start of 2007-08 he took charge of the team for the tenth time, a club record. Türk Telekom agreed terms with him again in November 2014. TED Ankara Kolejliler is also among the teams he has coached, and he was in charge there in 2017. In 2018 he signed with Türk Telekom once more and returned to the club.
