Ercüment Şahin — Biography

Born in the Swiss town of Bülach, Ercüment Şahin began his football career at home, playing first for FC Bülach and FC Zürich and then for FC Chiasso, twice finishing as his club's top scorer. At the age of 27, he moved to Turkey at the invitation of then-Bursaspor coach Nejat Biyediç, and his goals in the UEFA Intertoto Cup won over the club's fans, making him a fondly remembered figure despite a relatively short stay there. He continued his playing career at Altay, Vanspor and Konyaspor, then Sarıyer, before he retired at his boyhood club FC Bülach, and he earned a single cap for Turkey's senior national team. Şahin also studied surveying and cadastre at Yıldız Technical University. Since hanging up his boots he has coached at several lower-division Turkish clubs, including a stint at Kayseri Erciyesspor, and he currently manages the Under-17 team at FC Zürich in Switzerland.
