Engin Verel — Biography

Ramiz Engin Verel (born 15 September 1956 in Istanbul) is a former Turkish international footballer who spent most of his career with the rival Istanbul clubs Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. His grandfather had migrated from Thessaloniki to the Samatya district of Istanbul. Verel also played abroad for France's Lille OSC and earned 26 caps for the Turkish national team.

After retiring from playing, he moved into sports journalism and later served as head of TFV. He withdrew his candidacy for the Fenerbahçe club presidency in 2021, and he continues to be a frequent voice in the Turkish sports press, regularly commenting on Fenerbahçe's performances.
