Emre Turan — Biography
Emre Turan is a Berlin-born centre-back of Turkish-German background who has spent most of his career in Germany's lower professional and regional leagues. He took his first professional step in Turkey, returned to Germany to see Eintracht Braunschweig rise, and later played at the heart of defence for clubs around Berlin. He is currently known as a defender with CFC Hertha 06.
He began in the youth system of his hometown Berlin. In 2009 he signed with Turkish top-flight club Ankaraspor, but made no first-team appearances there and returned to Germany the following year to join 3. Liga side Eintracht Braunschweig. In his first season there the team won promotion to the 2. Bundesliga; he also played for the club's reserve side. When his contract was not renewed after 2012-13 he signed for Regionalliga club Berliner AK 07 for 2013-14 and stayed two seasons. He then moved to fellow Regionalliga side Optik Rathenow, where he started at centre-back for the next six seasons, and later joined CFC Hertha 06.
As a youth international he was capped seven times for Turkey at under-18 level, in matches against Russia, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
