Emre Korkmaz — Biography

The stage is where Turkish actor Emre Korkmaz built his career, later extending it into television and cinema. For more than twenty years he has worked on both series sets and theatre stages, and since 2015 he has been part of Tiyatro Lir, a company known for children's plays.

He began in amateur theatre during his school years, turned professional in 2005 by joining Hadi Çaman's Yeditepe Players, and trained for two and a half years at the Studio Players run by Şahika Tekand. Although he graduated in tourism and hotel management in Kocaeli and in business administration in Eskişehir, he never turned away from acting. His first screen work came in the mid-2000s, with Kurtlar Vadisi Terör, Hatırla Sevgili and Ölümsüz Kahramanlar, followed by parts in Arka Sokaklar and Akasya Durağı. In the mid-2010s he appeared in Deliha and Kızıl Elma, then in Muhteşem Yüzyıl Kösem and Paramparça.

On stage he has acted in plays such as Venedik Taciri, Narkoperasyon and Kadınlık Bizde Kalsın, and at Tiyatro Lir in Guluk Guluk, Kahraman Köpek Çiço and Yalnız Aslan Liyuva. For a time he taught theatre and drama to young children for a year in a programme run with Unicef and SHÇEK. He has also worked in short films and appeared as himself in the documentary Ve Merhaba Kainat: Nazım Hikmet.
