Emre Aşık — Biography
Emre Aşık (born 13 December 1973 in Bursa) is a Turkish former international footballer who played as a centre-back. He began his career with Sönmez Filamentspor in the TFF Third League and went on to play for Balıkesirspor, Fenerbahçe, İstanbulspor, Beşiktaş and Galatasaray; he is one of the few footballers to have appeared for both Galatasaray and Beşiktaş.
Aşık was known as a tough and controversial defender, collecting 108 yellow cards and 13 red cards in league play. A Turkey international from 1993, he was part of the national team that finished third at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and reached the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2008.
After retiring he moved into coaching and later worked as a football pundit, joining beIN Sports Türkiye in 2023.
