Emel Heinreich — Biography

Emel Heinreich is a director, author and actress born in Kayseri who works in Austria; she is also described as a dancer and mask carver. She holds both Turkish and Austrian citizenship and does most of her film and television work from Austria. The credit that has reached the widest audience is Tatort: Baum der Erlösung (2009), an instalment of the long-running German crime series Tatort.

Her filmography reaches back to the mid-1980s. Wir die Fremden (1986) and Das Blut der Rose (1991) belong to the earlier years, while Tujutaksu and Kodoks Dream (1995), Hier, dort, irgendwo (1996), Mimpi Manis (1997) and Wasserhaus (1998) fill the second half of the 1990s. In 2009 she appeared in the Tatort episode and also in Kommissar Rex. Darb-i Fetih, a project she developed together with Rupert Huber, is also among her works.
