Egemen Korkmaz — Biography
Egemen Korkmaz was born on 3 November 1982 in Balıkesir. Standing 1.83 meters tall, he played as a centre-back throughout his career and later moved into coaching after retiring.
He began playing as an amateur at Balıkesirspor in 1999 before signing a professional contract with Kartalspor in 2000. He then moved to Bursaspor, where he remained until the end of the 2007-08 season, served as team captain and made over 150 league appearances. Ahead of the 2008-09 season he joined Trabzonspor, where he also captained the side and won the Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup. In 2011 he transferred to Beşiktaş, and in 2012 he moved to Fenerbahçe, with whom he won the Süper Lig title, the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup. Later in his career he played for FC Wil 1900 in Switzerland before returning to Turkey with İstanbul Başakşehir. Alongside his appearances for Turkey's youth sides, he was capped by the senior national team. After retiring from playing, Korkmaz became assistant coach to Abdullah Avcı at Trabzonspor and subsequently took charge of Turkey's national under-21 team as head coach.
