Ebru Yaşar — Biography
Ebru Yaşar was born on 8 August 1977 in Ankara, the child of a civil servant family of Kurdish origin from Ağrı. Because of her father's postings she spent her childhood in several cities, including Tokat, Istanbul, Bitlis and Adapazarı. She passed the conservatory exams of Istanbul Technical University and graduated from its Turkish Art Music department.
She launched her music career in 1995 with the album Bu Sahilde, released through Burhan Çaçan's label, which earned her a female artist of the year award from the Magazine Journalists Association. Her major breakthrough came in 1999 with Seni Anan Benim İçin Doğurmuş, made with the support of İbrahim Tatlıses; the album sold over a million copies, became the best-selling record of the year, and won multiple prizes at the Kral TV Video Music Awards. She followed it with Aşkımız Buraya Kadar (2003), the hugely successful Yeşillenirim (2006), and Seviyorum Seni (2008), whose title track was a duet with İsmail YK. Her 2011 album Delidir drew attention when she performed the Sezen Aksu title song in Turkish, Kurdish and Arabic.
In the following decade she released albums such as Sanat-ı Ebru and Haddinden Fazla along with numerous singles, later collaborating with artists including Burak Bulut and Kurtuluş Kuş. She married businessman Necat Gülseven in 2015. In the summer of 2026 she performed concerts across Turkey and realized a special project presenting her songs with a large symphony orchestra.
