Didem Akın — Biography

Didem Akın (born May 1, 1971, in Ankara) is a retired Turkish basketball player regarded as one of the best Turkish women's players of her generation. Known by the nickname "Dido," she earned 99 caps with Turkey's senior and junior national women's teams, competed in the EuroLeague Women seven times as a player, and won numerous Turkish Women's Basketball League and Turkish Cup titles during her playing career.

After retiring as a player, she served for many years starting in 2005 as team manager of Fenerbahçe's women's basketball team, a period in which the club also went on to collect league and cup championships. She parted ways with Fenerbahçe around 2019-2020, and has since continued to share her views publicly on Turkish women's basketball.
