Derya Yıldırım — Biography

Derya Yıldırım (born 1993 in Hamburg) is a German singer-songwriter, composer and music producer of Turkish descent. She trained at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama and the Berlin University of the Arts, and is best known as a virtuoso of the bağlama, singing in Turkish while blending Anatolian folk traditions with pop influences.

Performing both with her band Grup Şimşek and as a soloist, she released the album “Kar Yağar” with the group in 2019 and has been recognized as one of the artists bringing Anatolian folk music to European stages. Alongside her music career she also works as a lecturer and has served as a jury member for music competitions.
