Derya Uluğ — Biography
Derya Uluğ is a singer and songwriter who stepped out of Ebru Gündeş's backing vocals to begin her own pop career in 2016 with the single Okyanus. Its video passed 100 million YouTube views and earned a gold plaque from the production company DMC; the same year she was named best newcomer soloist at the Golden Butterfly Awards.
Growing up in İzmir, Uluğ took an early interest in music and entered a singing contest at eight; she studied music teaching and violin at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and completed a master's at the Haliç University State Conservatory. After three years working with Gündeş she set out on her own. She wrote the words and music of Okyanus with Asil Gök, with arrangement by Burak Yeter, and Canavar, Nabız 180 and Ne Münasebet followed. In later years she recorded duets with Emrah Karaduman and Cem Belevi, joined Mustafa Sandal, Eypio and Irmak Arıcı on Bizim Çocuklar, and contributed to tribute albums for Yıldız Tilbe, Serdar Ortaç and Bergen. Her first album, Nefes, came out in 2023.
On television she has appeared as herself on Güldüy Güldüy Show, Yaz Şarkısı and Gelin Takımı, and with Gök she has written songs for other artists. In August 2026 she gave a Victory Day concert in Antalya.
