Derya Uluğ — Biography

Derya Uluğ was born on February 21, 1986, in İzmir, one of four siblings in a family of Bulgarian Turkish and Albanian descent. She showed an early interest in music, entering a singing competition at age eight before going on to study music and violin at Muğla University and later graduating from the Haliç University Conservatory.

Before launching her solo career, she spent three years as a backing vocalist for Ebru Gündeş. In 2016 she released her debut single "Okyanus," co-written with Asil Gök and composed by Burak Yeter, and that same year won the "Best Newcomer Soloist" award at the 43rd Golden Butterfly Awards.

In the summer of 2026, Uluğ announced her engagement to longtime collaborator Asil Gök while continuing to perform in concerts across Turkey.
