Deniz Undav — Biography
Deniz Undav, born on 19 July 1996 in Varel, Germany, is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward. His Kurdish-Yazidi family migrated to Germany from the village of Işıklı in the Viranşehir district of Şanlıurfa, Turkey.
Having started his professional career at TSV Havelse before moving through Eintracht Braunschweig and SV Meppen, Undav had his breakthrough after joining Belgium's Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in 2020, where he helped the club to a league runner-up finish, won the league's top scorer award, and was named Belgium's Professional Footballer of the Year. After a spell at Brighton & Hove Albion from 2022, he moved to VfB Stuttgart, with whom he reached a Bundesliga runner-up finish, Champions League qualification, and a DFB-Pokal title, while being the league's top-scoring German player in multiple seasons.
A Germany international since 2024, Undav has featured at the 2024 European Championship and the 2026 World Cup; despite his Turkish roots, he has publicly said he chose to represent Germany over Turkey.
