Demet Sağıroğlu — Biography

Demet Sağıroğlu (born 5 December 1966 in Erzurum) is a Turkish pop singer, songwriter and composer. She has recounted that at seventeen she secretly sat the entrance exam of the Hacettepe State Conservatory without her family's knowledge.

In 1989 she sang backing vocals for Kayahan's "Ve Melankoli" in the Turkish Eurovision final, where the song finished second. A year later she accompanied Kayahan to Zagreb after "Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim" won the national selection; the Turkish entry placed 17th at the 1990 contest.

From the mid-1990s she built a successful solo career with a string of albums. She has remained active on stage, releasing the duet "Bir Gün Gideceğim Buradan" with Cem Adrian in 2025 and "Aşk Perisi" with Melis Fis in 2026.
