Demet Parlak — Biography

Demet Parlak (born 26 July 1996 in Adana) is a Turkish international athlete who competes in the pole vault. (The birth date of 1 January 1990 given in the English-language Wikipedia entry conflicts with all other records and appears to be erroneous.)

She developed at the Olympic preparation centre in Adana and began setting records early: she won a Balkan title in 2016, broke a fifteen-year-old pole vault record in 2017 — stating at the time that her goal was the 2020 Tokyo Olympics — and took gold at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2022 alongside Buse Arıkazan.

At club level she competes for the Galatasaray athletics team, and in early 2026 she was among the Turkish athletes who medalled at the Balkan Senior Indoor Athletics Championships.
