Cevher Özer — Biography

Cevher Özer was one of Turkish basketball's power forwards of the 2000s and 2010s. He played in the Basketball Super League for Beşiktaş, Galatasaray and Banvit, and is also remembered as the ninth player in Turkey to record a triple-double, which he did in an away game for OGM Ormanspor. He is now described as a former professional player.

He played for Türk Telekom from 2000 to 2002 and for Darüşşafaka from 2002 to 2006. In 2005 he won the slam dunk contest held at the Turkish Basketball League all-star event. He moved to Beşiktaş Cola Turka in 2006 and stayed for five seasons. In 2011 he agreed a two-year deal with Galatasaray Medical Park, but after one season he returned to Beşiktaş ahead of 2012-13. That season he was in the squad that beat Anadolu Efes to win the club's first Presidential Cup, and the team competed on three fronts: the league, the EuroLeague and the Turkish Cup.

Before the 2013-14 season he signed a one-plus-one-year contract with Banvit, the previous year's league finalist and a side preparing for the EuroLeague qualifying round that season; he agreed terms with the club again in 2017. In 2019 he transferred to OGM Ormanspor, and he made his triple-double with that team. The Manisa-born player stands 2.05 metres tall.
