Cemil Kavukçu — Biography

Cemil Kavukçu is a Turkish short story writer born in 1951 in the İnegöl district of Bursa. He graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Science, Department of Geophysical Engineering, in 1976, and from 1980 onward began publishing short stories in various literary magazines.

Over his career Kavukçu has received numerous honors, including the Yaşar Nabi Nayır Short Story Award in 1987 for "Patika," the Sait Faik Short Story Award in 1996 for the collection "Uzak Noktalara Doğru," the Sedat Simavi Literature Award in 2009 for his autobiographical narrative "Angelacoma'nın Duvarları," and the Erdal Öz Literature Award in 2013. Several of his stories and novels have also been adapted for film and television, and he remains an active, respected voice in Turkish literary circles.
