Cemil Gürgen Erlertürk — Biography
Cemil Gürgen Erlertürk (1918, İzmir – 3 May 1970, Istanbul) was a leading figure of early Turkish republican-era football who was also a licensed sailplane pilot. Fans reportedly nicknamed him "Katır" (Mule) for his sturdy build.
He topped the scoring charts of the Istanbul Football League more than once, netting 30 goals in 16 matches during the 1939-40 season — a mark that made him the first, and for a long time the only, player to pass 30 goals in the league. Three seasons later, in 1942-43, he again finished as top scorer with 22 goals in 11 matches.
