Cem Pamiroğlu — Biography
Cem Pamiroğlu is a former international who played at left-back and in central defence, and whose name is closely tied to Fenerbahçe. With 508 appearances in the yellow and navy shirt he is the club's fourth most capped player, and his 279 Süper Lig games put him third on that list. After football he worked as a coach and served with the youth national teams.
Born in Kadıköy, Pamiroğlu entered Fenerbahçe's academy in 1969-70 at the age of 12 and was promoted to the first team in 1975-76. At the club he won the Süper Lig in 1977-78, 1982-83 and 1984-85, the Turkish Cup in 1978-79 and the Federation, Prime Minister's and Presidential Cups, eight trophies in all. He was team captain from 2 August 1983 to 17 May 1985. In 1986 he was loaned to Sarıyer, joined them permanently in 1987 and said farewell to football in a testimonial match between Sarıyer and Fenerbahçe. He won 23 caps for the senior national team, 6 for the under-21s and 14 for the under-18s.
As a coach he led Çaykur Rizespor, Şekerspor and Göztepe, and took Çanakkale Dardanelspor to the 1. Lig through the 2. Lig play-offs in 2008-09. He also worked with the under-21, under-19 and under-18 national teams and for a time served as the Turkish Football Federation's football development director. In recent years he has commented on Fenerbahçe and the league on A Spor broadcasts.
