Cem Atan — Biography

Cem Atan was born on 30 June 1985 in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, to a family of Turkish immigrant background, and played as a midfielder throughout his career. He began playing at amateur club 1. Wiener Neustädter SC, moved through Rapid Wien's youth system between 2003 and 2005, and made his professional debut with TSV Hartberg.

After failing to meet expectations at Hartberg, Atan spent 2006-2010 at SV Mattersburg, making 137 appearances and scoring 14 goals. In 2010 he moved to Turkey to join Gençlerbirliği, while opting to represent Austria at international level rather than Turkey. He also had spells with LASK Linz and SKN St. Pölten during his career, and in the middle of the 2012-2013 season he transferred to Fethiyespor, then chasing promotion to Turkey's second tier.
