Candan Sabuncu — Biography
Candan Sabuncu, born Sevil Candan, came into the world on January 25, 1944, in the Ödemiş district of İzmir. After training in the fine arts, she took to the stage and built a career spanning the 1960s through the 2010s, appearing in nearly forty film and television productions and becoming a familiar face of Turkish theatre and Yeşilçam cinema.
Among the credits she is best remembered for are the 1988 film Arabesk and the 2007 film Kabadayı. Following her death, the Turkish press repeatedly referred to her as a "veteran theatre actress," reflecting the esteem in which she was held by colleagues and the wider arts community.
