Burhan Çaçan — Biography

Burhan Çaçan (17 October 1960, Eleşkirt, Ağrı – 12 January 2023, Istanbul) was a Turkish folk singer and film actor, one of twelve children in his family. He entered music after winning an amateur singing contest run by TRT's Erzurum radio station in 1978, gained wider recognition through broadcaster Halit Kıvanç's support, and released his first album in 1981 through Neşe Karaböcek's production company.

Known as one of the notable voices of the bozlak and uzun hava traditions, he built a wide following with songs about longing and homesickness, releasing 28 albums over his career and appearing in six films. He received Artist of the Year honors at events such as Altın Kelebek and Müzik Oskarları, and founded his own label, BÇ Müzik. Çaçan died of a heart attack in Istanbul on 12 January 2023.
