Burhan Atak — Biography
Burhan Atak was born on 27 January 1905 in Istanbul and, after his education at Galatasaray High School, spent his entire playing career with his hometown club, Galatasaray SK. A physically imposing defender, he was nicknamed "Ayı Burhan" (Burhan the Bear) and formed part of the powerful Galatasaray side that dominated Istanbul football in the 1920s.
He earned 10 caps for the Turkish national team and competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics. After retiring as a player, Atak went on to work as a football referee, and he died in Istanbul on 6 June 1987.
