Burçin Oraloğlu — Biography

Acting, directing and voice work have filled the more than sixty years that Turkish stage artist Burçin Oraloğlu has spent in theatre, film and television. His name is most closely tied to the Istanbul City Theatres, and on screen he has a broad filmography running from the 1960s into the 2010s.

He began his artistic life in 1960 as an actor at the 6 Tiyatrosu, then worked at the Oraloğlu Tiyatrosu, and joined the City Theatres company in 1963. His film credits go back to Gönül Kimi Severse (1959); Döner Ayna and Şoför Nebahat ve Kızı (1964) and Sevgili Öğretmenim (1965) are among his 1960s films. In 1984 he played Cengiz in Taçsız Kraliçe, and the same year he was also in Fırtına Gönüller and Kadın Bir Defa Sever. He also appeared in the films Kader (1968), D-Tox (2002) and Türkan (2011) and in the series Üç İstanbul (1983) and Lorenzo'nun Karısı (2003).

After many years of acting he moved into directing and held various posts on the City Theatres' boards. In his television phase, which began with Kördüğüm in 1997, he appeared in series such as Sıla (2006), Dağlar Delisi and Aşk Eski Bir Yalan (2007), Aşk-ı Memnu (2009), İffet and Kalbim Seni Seçti (2011). He has also continued his voice work.
