Buray — Biography

Born Buray Hoşsöz on 15 June 1984 in Nicosia, the singer holds both Turkish and Northern Cypriot citizenship. After finishing high school at Türk Maarif College, he studied music at Eastern Mediterranean University, graduating in 2005, and later completed a postgraduate degree in sound engineering and production in the United Kingdom. He began his career as a guitarist backing various artists at concerts in Cyprus, before moving into arranging albums and conducting orchestras for television programs on the island. Through a songwriting partnership formed with a composer he met in Australia, he also wrote material recorded by other performers.

After settling in Turkey, Buray released his debut album, 1 Şişe Aşk, in 2015, produced in his own studio in Melbourne; a single from that period, İstersen, topped the Turkish charts. He went on to release a string of further hits and, also an electric guitarist, built a wide following as a pop artist. Still active on stage, he performed at festivals in cities such as Van, Çorum and Akşehir in the summer of 2026.
