Burak Kut — Biography

Born on 27 August 1973 in Istanbul, Burak Kut played in his school orchestra as a child; finding no music classes at Şehremini Lisesi, he transferred to İstanbul Anadolu Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi to study flute and piano, and won three consecutive years of competitions representing Kabataş Boys' High School. His debut album Benimle Oynama / Çılgınım, released with Hakan Peker's label in April 1994, sold close to a million copies, earned him the nickname 'Bebeto' and won a European MTV Local Hero award. Writing most of his own lyrics and music on albums such as Nereden Geldim, Nerelere Gideceğim and Küçük Prens, he later performed alongside Sarah Brightman and Greek singer Sakis Rouvas; a peace concert with Rouvas at the Green Line in Cyprus earned him the Abdi İpekçi Peace Award. His 2007 album Komple marked a comeback after several quiet years, and that same year he acted in the series Aşk Kapıyı Çalınca; he later appeared in the film Poyraz Karayel: Küresel Sermaye and played Cihan in the series Tozkoparan, while also hosting and judging various television programs. In 2011 he married doctor Cansel Yeni, with whom he has a daughter, Aden. He has continued to perform through the 2020s, including concerts in Yalova and Kahramanmaraş in summer 2026.
