Burak Kaplan — Biography

Burak Kaplan was born on 1 February 1990 in Cologne, Germany. Holding both Turkish and German citizenship, he played in midfield, either as an attacking midfielder or on the left wing, and is listed at 1.68 m.

He learned the game in Germany and came through Bayer 04 Leverkusen, signing his first professional contract there in the summer of 2009. His career took in Greuther Fürth and KFC Uerdingen 05 in Germany as well as Beşiktaş in Turkey; Beşiktaş disclosed talks with him to the Turkish public-disclosure platform in February 2019 and filed a further notice concerning him in mid-2020.

At international level he opted for Turkey, appearing for the country's youth sides including the under-19 and under-21 teams. Some sources give his date of birth as 2 January 1990, but the majority of records point to 1 February 1990.
