Burak Aydos — Biography

Burak Aydos was born on 8 January 1972 in Ankara, where he completed his entire schooling. He began studying music in 1983, taking solfège and piano lessons from Metin Tufan, and in 1987 was admitted to the double-bass department of Hacettepe University's Ankara State Conservatory, only to be dismissed a year later; he kept working with Tufan regardless, and in 1991 won an honorable mention at the TRT Golden Antenna Composition Contest with his song Mor Menekşe.

In 1993 he represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest in Millstreet, Ireland, with Esmer Yarim, a song he wrote and composed himself. In 1995 he paused his university studies to release his debut solo album, Şartsız Kuralsız Hesapsız, written and composed entirely by himself; its track Yalnızlık Benim Eski Sevgilim reached a wide audience and was re-recorded in a softer arrangement in 2005. He returned to his studies in 1997, graduated in political science from Bilkent University, then stepped away from professional music for a long stretch.

He returned in 2007 with the album 30+, whose song Bize Erkek Adam Derler became the theme music for the Show TV series Eşref Saati. In the 2020s he toured Ankara and İzmir with Jazzy Sessions, a concert project pairing jazz with Turkish folk songs. After a liver tumor was found in 2025, he told NTV Haber he went through a difficult treatment, from which he recovered and returned to performing.
