Bülent Uygun — Biography
Bülent Uygun was born on 1 August 1971 in the Adapazarı district of Sakarya. Starting out in the Sakaryaspor academy, he played first as a forward and later as an attacking midfielder, later captaining Fenerbahçe and topping the scoring charts there. He also turned out for Sivasspor, Trabzonspor, Kocaelispor and Göztepe before hanging up his boots at Sivasspor in 2001.
He moved into coaching in 2007, again at Sivasspor, where he is remembered for guiding the club close to the title in several seasons. He later took charge of Bucaspor, Eskişehirspor, Elazığspor and Gaziantepspor, and also managed Umm Salal in Qatar. In 2011 he was detained as part of a match-fixing investigation and temporarily banned from club activity, though the ruling was later overturned on appeal. Known for his outspoken remarks about Turkish football, Uygun made headlines again in 2025 after the loss of his daughter Almina Tude, sharing an emotional tribute in the press.
