Buket Alakuş — Biography
Buket Alakuş is a screenwriter and director known in Turkish-German cinema. Based in Germany, she launched her directing career with her first feature, Anam; her most recent work is the German-Turkish romantic comedy Evet, Hayır, Belki, released on Netflix in 2025.
Written and directed by her in 2001, Anam won numerous awards and placed her among the prominent names of Turkish-German cinema. Her second feature, Offside (2005, known in Turkey as Ofsayt), received the Adolf Grimme Award, and she wrote its screenplay as well. She then continued in cinema with Finnischer Tango (2008) and Einmal Hans mit scharfer Soße (2013).
Shooting of the Netflix film in Turkey began in July 2024 on a route from Cappadocia to Istanbul, with Katja Riemann, Nursel Köse and The Chau Ngo in the cast. The film carries her work on stories set between two countries to a wide streaming audience.
