Bilgehan Demir — Biography

Bilgehan Demir is a sports broadcaster, journalist and producer, known in Turkey as the voice of boxing, kickboxing and professional wrestling coverage. His tears while commentating on Mike Tyson's fight in November 2024 drew wide attention, and he continues to cover boxing today.

He began in 1994 at Flash TV in Bursa, then worked at Bursa FM, Kanal 16 and Süperspor. In 2000 he joined TGRT and presented sports news for four years, and in 2004 he reported for Doğan News Agency on behalf of Kanal D and CNN Türk. The turning point was the boxing coverage he started at TGRT in December 2006: for five years at Fox he called K-1 kickboxing, boxing and WWE and TNA wrestling, and his kickboxing broadcasts from Japan and the Netherlands set ratings records. In 2011 he founded his own company, produced TPW wrestling shows and sold broadcast rights to Cine 5 and Beyaz TV. He later acquired rights to boxing events from around the world and supplied them to Kanaltürk, NTV Spor, TV8 and DMAX. He commentated on Boksun Yıldızları on TV8 and, from May 2018, on Boks Gecesi on DMAX for three and a half years, and he presented Robot Savaşları on TLC.

Raised in Bursa, Demir graduated from the Physical Education Department of the Faculty of Education at Uludağ University; in his youth he played lower-league football and briefly worked as a provincial referee. He is a member of the World Sportswriters Association and a natural member of TSYD, and in 2026 he is commentating live on major events such as the Usyk-Verhoeven WBC heavyweight title fight.
