Betül Demir — Biography

Betül Demir is a singer, songwriter and composer who has been on the Turkish pop stage for about twenty years with songs she both performs and writes. Her sister, Sude Bilge Demir, has been involved in the production of her albums since the first one. In the summer of 2026 she released a new song, Yüzdü Kıyıya.

She took an interest in music very early, sang solos in school choirs and played concerts around her neighbourhood with a band she formed in high school. She trained at the Müjdat Gezen Art Centre, spent a period in the opera and voice department of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University and graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Law. Her first album, Ayrılığın El Kitabı, came out in 2006; with songs like "Yaz Geliyor" she established her pop sound, then tried remixes with Betül Demiremix, and turned to Latin pop in "Sahil Sahil" and electronic sounds in "Bahane Bulma". Süper (2008) was arranged by Mustafa Ceceli and carried songs by names such as Sezen Aksu, Sinan Akçıl and Fettah Can. That same year she sang the rock song "Gönül Sabreyle" on 3 Hürel's album.

Later came Mıknatıs (2011), Esas Duruş (2017) and Akustika (2020); along the way she recorded duets with Suat Ateşdağlı and Hüseyin Karadayı and released singles such as "Herkes Haklı", "Sana N'olmuş" and "Toz Duman". In 2015 she became the face of a cosmetics brand, and in 2025 she released the EP RETRO-1.
