Bekir İrtegün — Biography

Bekir İrtegün was born on 20 April 1984 in Elazığ. Playing as a centre-back, he began his career in 1998 with Gaziantep Köy Hizmetleri before moving into Gaziantepspor's youth setup the following year.

He spent close to a decade in Gaziantepspor's first team before signing with Fenerbahçe in 2009, where consistent performances earned him call-ups to Turkey's under-21 and senior national sides; he later joined İstanbul Başakşehir in 2015. Over his playing career he worked under a long list of coaches, from Mesut Bakkal to İsmail Kartal.

After retiring as a player, İrtegün moved into coaching. He was appointed Hatayspor's coach in January 2026 — the club's fourth appointment that season — but was dismissed in July 2026 after collecting just two wins in nineteen games.
