Bedri Gürsoy — Biography

Bedri Gürsoy (1904, Istanbul – 4 February 1994, Istanbul) was a Turkish international footballer who played as a left winger or left forward, and later a club official at Fenerbahçe. Some sources give his year of birth as 1902; he was born in Kadıköy, then part of the Ottoman Empire.

As a player he became closely identified with Fenerbahçe. He was in the club's starting eleven for the 1923 General Harington Cup match, and in the same year he lined up in Turkey's first ever official international. He went on to represent Turkey at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, and some accounts also place him in the 1928 Olympic squad.

He is regarded as one of the finest left forwards in the history of Turkish football. After hanging up his boots he served several terms as an administrator at Fenerbahçe. He died in Istanbul, the city of his birth.
