Barış Alper Yılmaz — Biography
Barış Alper Yılmaz (born 23 May 2000 in İkizdere, Rize) is a Turkish footballer who plays as a left winger for Süper Lig giants Galatasaray and the Turkey national team. He began his career in the youth academy of Rize İl Özel İdarespor, moved to Ankara Demirspor in 2017, and after three seasons spent mostly on the bench, joined Keçiörengücü on a free transfer, where he finally became a regular starter.
He signed for Galatasaray at the start of the 2021-22 season, making his Süper Lig and UEFA Europa League debuts. He won his first Süper Lig title in 2022-23 and, the following season, earned more consistent playing time across several positions while making his first UEFA Champions League appearance. With the national team, he was part of Turkey's squads at UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Although linked with several European clubs during the summer 2026 transfer window, Yılmaz remained at Galatasaray, and on 21 July 2026 he graduated from İstanbul Gelişim University's Exercise and Sport Sciences program, adding an academic milestone to his playing career.
