Baki Mercimek — Biography
Born on 17 September 1982 in Amsterdam, Baki Mercimek began playing football in Ajax's youth academy at the age of eight and launched his professional career with a move to HFC Haarlem in 1999.
Although born in the Netherlands, he went on to represent Turkey at international level, and wore the colours of Sunderland in England as well as Telstar, Beşiktaş, Gençlerbirliği, MKE Ankaragücü, Diyarbakırspor, Karşıyaka SK, Gaziosmanpaşaspor and Bugaşspor.
After retiring from football, he appeared as a contestant on the Tv8 competition show Boxun Yıldızları, and in 2021 returned to his former club Gençlerbirliği as sporting director.
