Azerin — Biography

Azerin (born Anaxanım Etibar Tağıyeva on 9 May 1971 in Baku) is an Azerbaijani singer who began performing as a child soloist on state television at five, later fronting the well-known Cücələrim dance and music ensemble and the Menekşe Choir before graduating from the vocal department of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. She sings in languages including Italian, Spanish, Russian, French and English.

Named an Azerbaijani State Artist by President Ilham Aliyev in 2006 and later honored as a People's Artist of Azerbaijan in 2015, Azerin also holds the rank of captain in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. She has toured dozens of countries since 1990 and hosted programs on Turkey's TRT Avaz and TRT Müzik from 2009; in 2015 she released Yüreklerde Biriz, her first Turkish-market album, whose remix of "Çırpınırdı Karadeniz" became a widely streamed hit.

She is also known for the patriotic songs "On Beş Temmuz Gecesi" and "Asker Duası," and took a small acting role in the 2017 Turkish series Savaşçı. In 2026, her song "Türkler Geliyor" drew renewed attention after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was seen singing along during a public event.
