Ayşegül Günay — Biography

Ayşegül Günay Aladağ is one of the experienced point guards of Turkish women's basketball. She first stood out in the junior leagues, then played at the top level in Kayseri and for Galatasaray, and won a European bronze medal with the national team. Since April 2026 she has been on the Beşiktaş BOA roster in the Women's Basketball Super League.

She started out at Migrosspor and then played in the youth teams of Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Çankaya University. In 2009 she won the Turkish junior women's league with Fenerbahçe and was named its most valuable player; in 2011 she was successful in the same junior league with Beşiktaş. In May 2012 she signed a two-season contract with Kayseri KASKİ and played in the 2012-13 EuroCup. At 21 she was getting 25 minutes a game in the league and averaging 9.3 points, drawing attention for her outside shooting. In 2014 she signed with Galatasaray on a one-plus-one-plus-one deal.

Her national-team story began in 2012, with bronze at the Under-20 European Championship in Debrecen; in 2013 she was in the squad that took bronze at EuroBasket Women in France. She was called up again in November 2019. At club level she renewed with Bellona Kayseri in June 2020 and returned to Kayseri Basketbol in 2023. In July 2024 she went back to Galatasaray Çağdaş Faktoring, left in May 2025, and joined Beşiktaş in spring 2026. She is 1.72 m tall.
